As we celebrate the 25th edition of the festival, this special focus on Taiwanese performance feels both timely and meaningful. It is not simply a guest programme. It is an invitation to discover a place, a people, and a contemporary culture through the intimacy of live performance.
Over the years, we have had the pleasure of encountering Taiwanese artists at Prague Fringe. Their work has stayed with us.
There is often a rare combination in Taiwanese performance: precision and vulnerability, bold form and emotional honesty, discipline and imagination. These are artists who are unafraid to experiment, yet never lose sight of human connection. That is something audiences feel immediately.
This year, Taiwan Week brings together three very different productions—each with its own voice, aesthetic, and emotional world. Yet together they offer something larger: a glimpse into the richness and diversity of Taiwan today.
For many in Europe, Taiwan may still be known through headlines, politics, or geography. But culture tells a deeper story.
Through theatre, movement, image, humour, memory, and risk, audiences can encounter Taiwan in a far more meaningful way: as a creative, open, thoughtful, and deeply alive society.
We are sincerely grateful to Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Prague for helping make this collaboration possible, and for believing—as we do—that artistic exchange matters.
Taiwan Week is the result of trust, curiosity, and shared commitment.
