Prague Fringe Goes Online

This Friday should have been the launch of the 19th Prague Fringe Festival. Instead we are breaking new ground with the first ever online Prague Fringe.

Unfortunately, like many other festivals around the world, we were forced, just days before launching ticket sales, to postpone our live events to new dates at the end of October.

In the meantime, to make the most of the original festival dates and to provide audiences with some much-needed Fringe joy, we have put together a special online festival featuring many artists from the October programme as well as other friends and supporters.

Between 22nd - 30th May audiences are invited to attend a range of free online events, performances, interactive games and more, hosted by many of the artists featured in the October programme. All events will be streamed via the Fringe social media sites or on Youtube. Specific details for each performance will be released gradually via our Programme page from on Wednesday 20th May.

All events will be free of charge to watch, and audiences will be offered the chance to support the festival via an online donation to the Prague Fringe Survival Fund which is raising money to secure the future of the festival through the challenges caused by the global pandemic, and to support visiting artists should the October rescheduled event take place.

Festival Founder and Director Steve Gove said  “We can’t wait to celebrate our wonderful Fringe even if it’s in a more virtual way. Our summer just won’t be the same this year, not to mention the economic effect the global coronavirus outbreak has had on the event but, along with the performers originally scheduled to join us this week we agree the show must go on, albeit in a socially distant, online way. We’re delighted to have fringe favourites such as The Men With Coconuts and the London Gay Mens Chorus take part in our online programme as well as many other artists from all over the world. And for those who’re disappointed that they are not in this wonderful city as planned, I’ll be taking you on a virtual tour, a personal guided Fringe city walkabout”.

We look forward to seeing you all there!
