Yellow Sisters
Ženská vokální skupina (Female a cappella group)
READ MORE | BUY TICKETS | FRINGE VOUCHER
Genre: World Music/Jazz / Text based music
“… four hearts, four souls, four voices, four ways to share emotions and create music… Yellow Sisters are sound illusionists… their music floats lightly between styles: jazz, soul, funk, RnB, reggae and world music......
“…the group’s scope is a lot wider than just reggae; they’re also interested in West and South African music, as well as South American folk, European art-music, and North American soul and jazz singing. All the vocalists cycle through all these styles, sharing lead and background vocals like it ain’t no thing at all. Song after song, Yellow Sisters show what is possible with a little talent and a whole lot of hard work. These four young women—Antonia, Léňa, Hawa, and Bára—have delivered one of the loveliest and smartest records of the last year.“

Dark and lyrical, the play’s characters spin yarns about themselves, each other and the traditional, rural Ireland around them. Enter a world of ghosts, faeries and curses, a place where a song can call up the dead and family bonds are never broken. An unforgiving look at what happens when this world makes contact with the outside: immigrant workers from Eastern Europe or the Travelers. Language and song intertwine to tell the tale…
